Some shelters are reservable up to one year in advance.  Others are offered on a first come first serve basis. Have fun in picnic areas and shelterhouses at Patoka lake state park.

Patoka Lake has 4 reservable shelters that are available for day use only. The rental period is from 9 am to 11 pm, and the cost ranges from $35 to $40, depending on the day. If nobody reserves the shelters (which will be indicated on the shelter) then they become available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tents, dining flies, and other camping units are not allowed in the shelter areas.

Beach Shelter #1

This is an ADA accessible, open shelter that is 42’ by 27’ (1134 square feet of covered space) and surrounded by grass. It features electric lighting, 30 amp electrical service with 2 outlets, 16 picnic tables, a stone fireplace, and a large charcoal grill. The parking lot has space for up to 50 vehicles. 

This shelter is located in a quiet area that enjoys afternoon sun. Modern restrooms are available across the road near Beach Shelter #2.

Marina Shelter #1

This ADA accessible, open shelter is 42’ by 27’, offering 1134 square feet of covered space. It is surrounded by grass and enjoys full shade, plus a lovely lake view.

This shelter has electric lighting, 30 amp electrical service with 2 outlets, 14 picnic tables, a stone fireplace, and a large charcoal grill. The parking lot has room for up to 24 vehicles. Modern restrooms are available across the parking lot by the North Ramp.

Marina Shelter #3

Located in a quiet, private area, this ADA accessible, open shelter is 42’ by 27’ with 1134 square feet of covered space. It is surrounded by grass, enjoys full shade, and has a small playground and modern restrooms very nearby.

This shelter features electric lighting, 30 amp electrical service with 2 outlets, 12 picnic tables, a stone fireplace, and a large charcoal grill. There is room for up to 40 vehicles in the parking lot.

South Ramp #1 (Archery Range) Shelter

This shelter is located in a public area right by the Archery Range, so the parking lot (with room for up to 49 vehicles) and modern restrooms are shared with archery guests. 

The open shelter is 42’ by 27’ and provides 1134 square feet of covered space. It has electric lighting, 30 amp electrical service with 2 outlets, 14 picnic tables, a stone fireplace, and a large charcoal grill. One side faces a wooded area, but is otherwise surrounded by grass, and the shelter enjoys afternoon sun.

Reservations must be made at least 2 days ahead of arrival and can be made up to 12 months in advance.

Ballfield Shelter

This is a small open shelter by the Baseball Field that is near the swimming beach.

It enjoys full sun and features about 7 regular size picnic tables, a charcoal grill, and a gravel parking lot. So bring the teams and enjoy the day!

Beach Shelter #2

This open shelter is at the top of the hill above the swimming beach and bath house. It features electric lighting, about 9 regular size picnic tables, a stone fireplace, and a large charcoal grill. The surrounding area is grassy and partially wooded.

 A large gravel parking lot, modern restrooms, and a playground are located here as well.

South-ramp-1

South Ramp

This is a small open shelter right by the South boat ramp. It has about 6 regular size picnic tables, electric lighting, a charcoal grill, and great lake views with full sun.

PICNIC AREAS

There are picnic tables with charcoal grills scattered around the park, with a large concentration of them near the swimming beach. You will also find several picnic areas overlooking the lake near Beach Shelter #2
